




Andrew Wood
Andrew Wood is a Washington DC based trumpet performer and music educator. Originally from Northern Virginia, Andrew completed his BM in music performance at James Madison University, studying with Dr. Chris Carrillo. Additional studies occurred with Chris Sala of the US Navy Band and Steven Hendrickson of the National Symphony Orchestra. After finishing at JMU, Andrew spent a year serving his alma mater, Gonzaga College High School, as a member of the Alumni Service Corps. After this, he accepted a trumpet studio teaching assistantship at Louisiana State University. After earning his MM in trumpet performance at LSU, Andrew accepted the position of Director of Bands and Instrumental Music at Gonzaga College High School. In this capacity, he conducts two bands and teaches music theory.

As a soloist, Andrew has appeared with the Massanutten Brass Band, James Madison University Brass Band, and LSU University Band. Additionally, he won first place in the 2019 North American Brass Band Association Cornet Slow Melody Competition.
As an orchestral musician, Andrew has appeared with the Rockbridge and Capital City Symphonies, as well as the LSU Symphony Orchestra and LSU Wind Ensemble. Additionally, Andrew performs regularly in a variety of settings throughout the DC area.

Andrew began his D.M.A. in Trumpet Performance at George Mason University in the Fall of 2022.
