Josh Sylke

Josh Sylke is a musician and accountant from Fredericksburg, Virginia. Josh graduated from James Madison University with a Master of Science in Accounting in 2021, where he also holds a Bachelors of Business Administration and a minor in music.

While at JMU, Josh performed with the James Madison University Brass Band for five years. During his time with the band, they were invited to perform at the RNCM International Brass Band Festival in Manchester, England, performed alongside the Cory Band during their USA Tour, and finished runner-up at the 2019 North American Brass Band Association Championships. Josh also played alongside the Marching Royal Dukes, JMU Wind Symphony, and various chamber ensembles on trumpet.

As a lifelong student of music, Josh is also passionate about drum corps. He marched with the Reading Buccaneers in 2015, in which the corps went undefeated and won DCA Open Class Finals. Josh later marched with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps in 2017, which earned DCI finalist honors with the production "Star Crossed". With his experience, he has served as a consultant and music educator at multiple marching band programs throughout Virginia.

Josh actively performs with community ensembles in the Northern Virginia area, and has had the opportunity to be a part of the Cherry Blossom Brass Band since its inception in 2023.
